Daily writing prompts~

Dylan is writing every day for more practice. He is doing very well this year. I have seen a big difference in it from last year.
These are what we use to help us with ideas. I really like them because it is accomplishing two things at once. Not only is he getting practice with his writing but they are educational as well.

You know that horribly expensive stuff at the store that kids love to play with…… I found a recipe for it.
Ingredients
1 Tbs. Borax
1-cup water
1/4 cup white glue
1 zip lock bag
Food coloring (optional)
Styrofoam beads (Wal-Mart)
1. Dissolve 1 Tbs. Borax completely in 1-cup water.
2. In a seperate bowl mix 1/4 cup white glue and 1/4 cup water.
3. Mix equal parts of Borax solution to equal parts of glue solution in zip lock bag (1/2 cup of each=1 cup of “floam” or w/o beads “slime”
4. Add a few drops of food coloring if you want.
5. Seal bag and knead by hand.
6. Add styrofoam beads to mixture to make “floam”.

No flour peanut butter cookies

This is so easy for your little one’s first baking adventure. They are the best peanut butter cookies I have had yet.
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 tspn vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
Mix together, drop onto cookie sheet. Flatten cookie with fork (can add sugar to that fork) and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
makes 3 dozen (if they are small balls)

Refiners Fire~

Malachi 3:3 says: “He will sit as a refiner andpurifier of silver.”
This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study andthey wondered what thisstatement meant about the character and nature of God.
One of the women offered to find out the process ofrefining silver and getback to the group at their next Bible Study.
That week, the woman called a silversmith and made anappointment to watchhim at work. She didn’t mention anything about thereason for her interestbeyond her curiosity about the process of refiningSilver.
As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece ofsilver over the fire andlet it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold thesilver in the middle of the fire where the flames werehottest as to burnaway all the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hotspot; then she thoughtagain about the verse that says: “He sits as a refinerand purifier ofsilver.” She asked the silversmith if it was true thathe had to sit therein front of the fire the whole time the silver wasbeing refined.
The man answered that yes, he not only had to sitthere holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entiretime it was in thefire. If the silver was left a moment too long in theflames, it would bedestroyed.
The woman was silent for a moment, then she asked thesilversmith, “How doyou know when the silver is fully refined?”
He smiled at her and answered, “Oh, that’s easy –when I see my image init.”
If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has his eyeon you and will keep watching you until He sees Hisimage in you.
When I read this, my first thoughts were “I get it God“. I am always asking God “when is it going to be better?” “When am I going to have it easy God?” It’s not going to get better. It’s not going to be easy. We live in a fallen world with evil and disaster. And instead of blaming God for giving me such a crappy life with stress and chaos, I need to learn to live with this and learn from the many things He is making me go through. I bring upon my own messes MOST of the time and then sit back and wonder why my life is the way it is. I am burning and it hurts so bad but I am going to have faith that my image will be seen through that silver.

*Sin steals your joy (Psalm 51:12)
*Sin removes confidence (1John 3:19-21)
*Sin brings guilt (Psalm 51:3)
*Sin gives satan the upper hand (2Cor 2:9:11)
*Sin quenches God’s Spirit (1Thes 5:19)
*Sin brings physical damage (Psalm 38:1-11,31:10)
*Sin causes an ache in the soul (Psalm 32:3-4)
*Sin breaks Gods heart (Ephesians 4:30)
* Sin opens the door to other sins (Isaiah 30:1)
*Sin breaks fellowship with God (Isaiah 59:1-2)
* Sin produces fear (Proverbs 28:1)
*Sin makes me it’s slave (John 8:34; Romans 6:16)
Ok, so now it is time to get out those bibles and look these verses up for yourselves! Stop making excuses and spend some time with God asking Him to show you which of these areas of your life you are guilty of? If you have time to be on this computer and in front of the television on a daily basis, then you should have time to spend with God on a daily basis. This is something I am guilty of and am trying to change. Which of the above sins are you guilty of? Go to God with them and repent.

I decided to quit~

One day I decided to quit…I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality… I wanted to quit my life.I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.“God”, I said. “Can you give me one good reason not to quit?”His answer surprised me…“Look around”, He said. “Do you see the fern and the bamboo?”“Yes”, I replied. When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them.I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor.Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said.“In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. “I would not quit.” He said. “Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.
Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant… But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.
It had spent the five years growing roots.
Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.”
He said to me. “Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots.”
“I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. ” Don’t compare yourself to others ..” He said. ” The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern … Yet, they both make the forest beautiful.”
Your time will come, ” God said to me. ” You will rise high! ” How high should I rise?” I asked.
How high will the bamboo rise?” He asked in return.
“As high as it can? ” I questioned.
” Yes. ” He said, “Give me glory by rising as high as you can. “
I left the forest and bring back this story.
I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.
He will never give up on you.
Never regret a day in your life.
Good days give you happiness
Bad days give you experiences;
Both are essential to life.
A happy and meaningful life requires our continuous input and creativity. It does not happen by chance. It happens because of our choices and actions. And each day we are given new opportunities to choose and act and, in doing so, we create our own unique journey.” Keep going…
Happiness keeps you Sweet,Trials keep you Strong, Sorrows keep you Human,Failures keep you humble, Success keeps You Glowing, but Only God keeps You Going!

The Homeschoolers 23rd Psalm

I saw this and thought it was so cute….

The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
He maketh me to live on less sleep:
He leadeth me through the noise of many voices.

He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me to teach
The right lessons each day, for His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of undone
Laundry and kitchen messes, I will fear no evil:
For thou art with me, my teacher’s guides and
Answer keys, they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence
Of threatening school officials and critical family members:
Thou anointest my head with heavenly wisdom, my cup runneth over.

Surely educated and godly children shall follow after me
All the days of my life: and I will dwell again one day
In a clean house with the Lord forevermore
